Meet the Maker:
Ali of The Woven Gem

For Ali, creativity is stitched into her lineage. Raised in a family of fiber artists, she learned to sew as a teen in a class that would forever shape her path, at the iconic Haberman Fabrics in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Though her career took other turns, she returned to sewing in adulthood with renewed passion, using it as a vehicle for storytelling and self-expression.

Drawing inspiration from traditional quilting, contemporary textile art, and the natural world, Ali creates jewelry that's both delicate and bold. She sources cotton and denim from local thrift stores that support community causes, and incorporates ethically mined beads to add dimension and intention to each piece.

Sustainability isn't a trend, it’s a practice she lives by. Every scrap of fabric is either used or repurposed, with the goal of creating zero waste.

Today, Ali lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area alongside a spirited creative team that includes her Chief Mischief Officer, Whizzy, and fashion muse Señor Elegante.

Through The Woven Gem, she hopes to offer not just accessories, but pieces that carry meaning, support women globally, and showcase the beauty of what already exists.
